JOB DESCRIPTION: Chromatography is a branch of chemistry. It involves separating out different compounds. A forensic chromatographer analyses physical crime scene evidence. This may involve collecting it from the crime scene. They then study it in a lab. Their findings are very useful in helping to solve a crime.
Examples of the things a forensic chromatographer might do are testing blood samples for toxic components such as poisons, analysing urine samples, testing water samples for pollution and paper chromatography.
