Archaeologist

STEM AREA: Maths

JOB DESCRIPTION: An archaeologist is a person who studies human history and prehistory through the excavation of sites and analysis of artefacts and remains. Artefacts are the remains of things that were made. Archaeologists are not interested in fossils (thats a job for a paleontologist!) When an archaeologist wants to look for artefacts, they will dig up a site. The process of looking for artefacts is called excavation. Archaeologists have to be very careful not to damage any of the artefacts they find.

ARCHEOLOGISTS: Howard Carter (discovered Tutankhamun’s tomb). Mary and Louis Leakey.
